AUS: ACCC "will not oppose" Westpac's takeover of Healthpoint payments application

Thursday, 29 February, 2024 - 10:19

The Australian Consumer and Competition Commission has determined that it will not block the acquisition of Healthpoint, a payments application by Westpac Banking Corporation.

The ACCC said "HealthPoint is a payment application that enables healthcare providers to process real time private health insurance claims at point of sale through partnerships with banking and other channel partners.

"Westpac is currently a very small supplier of banking payment services to health service providers without an ability to process real time private health insurance claims at point of sale."

That implies that the takeover will not distort the market nor create a worrisome concentration.
