The Hong Kong Monetary Authority warns of latest fraudlent website using Facebook.
The HKMA said "The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) wishes to alert members of the public to a press release issued by DBS Bank (Hong Kong) Limited relating to a fraudulent website, which has been reported to the HKMA."
This incident follows a recent trend in which the fake website is linked through a Facebook page. This is a growing trend and many banks use Facebook and other social media in their marketing and for providing on-line service to customers.
"Please note that the official Facebook pages of DBS COMPASS VISA and DBS Credit Card are certified by Facebook with the blue verified badge. The bank has no connection to the fraudulent Facebook pages. We have reported the matter to the Hong Kong Monetary Authority," DBS said in a press release.
DBS issued a warning relating to "the following fraudulent Facebook pages of DBS COMPASS VISA, DBS Credit Card and DBS Private Bank:
