Vortex Centrum Ltd at last recovers WorldMoneyLaunderingReport.Com
In 2005, the company found what it described as a "shadow" website.
Despite appeals to the registrar that had permitted registration to the third party of a site bearing the name of a publication registered to Vortex Centrum Limited and a direct approach to the third party, it proved impossible - without the disruption and cost of litigation - to recover the domain.
However, following a complaint to yahoo.com, which had hosted the domain, the site was taken down with the result that the domain remained registered to the third party but it was no longer being used to advertise competitors for a range of services provided by Vortex Centrum and associated ventures nor "hijacking" visitors searching for the World Money Laundering Report official website.
Nigel Morris-Cotterill of Vortex Centrum said "It's great news that, at last, we have control over WorldMoneyLaunderingReport.Com. It was of great concern that our brand was in the hands of someone who used it, albeit for a short time, to try to divert those looking for us. It is galling that it has taken five years to gain control of it but now we are satisfied with the outcome."
