Summary

Lawyers and others in Australia have long delayed the imposition of regulations to require them to detect, deter and report money laundering and other offences.

But pressure has been mounting and finally the Australian government has recognised that it Tranche II of its financial crime regulatory regime must be brought into effect soon. "Soon" may be as early as Q1 2025.

In October 2024, Nigel Morris-Cotterill, a pioneer in financial crime risk and compliance and himself a former legal practitioner and the author of several books including the forthcoming "Financial Crime and Lawyers" (a provisional title) will take undertake a seminar tour of the Capital Cities of Australia .
